Hi everyone! My name is Iris and I am a sophomore Environmental and Sustainability studies major here at WPI. I am from Northampton MA where I attended a waldorf school for many years. I was a pretty art oriented kid but by attending a waldorf school, art became an even bigger part of my life. Most of the pictures I included are the final products from school assigned projects (minus the paintings and red eye). Once I got to WPI I was happy to learn that I could continue taking art classes to grow my portfolio, the self portrait is from the figure drawing class I took in C term.
It’s safe to say that art is and will always be a huge part of my life. When I was only 4 months old my mom would give me paintbrushes and paper as an activity and after a few months I had learned how to actually use them. I enjoy all formats of creativity I have tried so far but traditional 2D mediums are definitely my favorite, which is why I am excited and nervous to try digital and 3D art in this class, as it is all completely new to me. In the past I have participated in performing plays, musicals, and wrote and recited a Lyceum Lecture in the style of transcendentalists, however, I have found I prefer to create in my own space and be free to show it to others once its done and there is less pressure not to make a mistake. Although, sometimes the best thing about true art is that there are no mistakes, only “happy little accidents!”

Acrylic painting of a tree
Acrylic painting of a cactus
Pastel bean boot

Geometric ipad art of an eye
Geometric wood burning

Genniker sail that I made from a kit
I am really excited to dive into the course with everyone and I can’t wait to see what we will end up creating š
hello! i am going to leave u the thought-provoking badge as I am really intrigued by the main picture u have set. the little squares make up an image of some sort and the variety of shades of red make me wonder more about the image. Perhaps you could explain a bit what it represents? in either case, i think its really beautiful! hope you have a good day!
Hi Iris, I will give you the detailed badge. I love the pastel bean boot. It has a lot of detailed but also feels very simple and clean at the same time.
I’m also giving you the detailed badge, from the cactus painting to the portrait, there is a lot going on in each piece and the wood burning especially is very intricate.
Impressive: I have done a tiny tiny but of stone carving and i am very impressed by what you have made.
Your geometric art pieces make me can’t take my eyes off, you may have an Impressive badge from me!
Hi Iris, your painting and drawings are very detailed. Great Work!
Hey Iris, I’m really impressed by your work! I’d like to give you a familiar badge for the Cactus painting since I’m from Arizona and the Saguaro’s white blossom is actually the state flower!
Hi! I think the cactus painting is very striking and cute!
Hi Iris! I would give you the detailed badge. It’s really cool that you were able to make art of very different objects/observations, but all of them are still very detailed and beautiful.
Hi! I am leaving you the gorgeous badge for your Tree painting because the combo of colors, detail and perspective all really come together
Hi Iris! I’m going to leave you the colorful badge because the first thing I noticed when I looked at your artwork were the colors. I find the one painting of the cactus amazing, it’s so detailed and I love the colors in it. You’re super talented :))
Hi Iris! Love your artwork! I am going to be giving you the colorful badge. The two acrylic paintings that you posted are amazing!
Striking! Great work of depth on the cactus painting. Like a dark version of sponge bob; really cool!
Hey Iris! Your art is amazing! My favorite one is the self-portrait. I’ll give you the gorgeous badge!
Hi Iris! I love your name. Your self portrait is breathtaking! For that iām giving you the detailed badge. Excited to see the art you create in class š
Colorful: I really love the vibrant colors in the cactus piece!
Hi Iris! I will be leaving you the striking badge. One thing that I immediately noticed when looking through your artworks is your use of geometry and layering, which is subtle in some works and more prominent in others, but always done very well.
