Michelle’S Final Projects

ANGEL

This is my first successful lasercut piece. I don’t think it’s included in any of the 3 projects but I am very proud of her. My idea for her started out as simply creating a biblically arrurate angel (what is her “head”), and then kinda grew into her body as a whole. I didn’t think a lot for her concept, I just took a lot of creative liberty and created a sketch that later turned into a lasercut piece. I struggled to make her accurate quite a bit, and I’m happy she turned out so well.

FIREBIRD

LIGHTBOX

After 3 attepmts and lots of plywood to get the edges of the box right, I finally did. Here is a sped up process of me building the lightbox. This shape consisted of 12 pentagons and 20 hexagons.
Here is a video of the final finished lightbox, without a lightsource. I left a pentagon out so the lamp could go there.
Here is the final project with a lightsource. While I couldn’t get to the lasercutter on time before it shut down to lasercut designs on the pieces, I kind of like how it turned out like this. Like this, it has shadows and is able to throw speckles of light across the room, and if i cut designs out I believe there would be too much liight coming out of the lightbox to have this effect.

Hi! You mentioned you struggled with the accuracy of your laser cut piece but I think it is very realistic, well done.
I absolutely love how vibrant and how many colors you were able to use in your layers project while still keeping the piece cohesive.
Your little penguin is very accurate as well and I appreciate the amount of care that you painted it with.

    Hello,
I really apricate all the creativity and effort that you put into this class. Your layers project is incredible. It really feels like the forest fades away into a dark deep dense forest. The detail and intricacies in the bird are incredible. I also notice how you were able to bring the penguin to life by painting it. You added so much character and emotion.

Hi! I am struck by the detail and perfection you achieved in each piece. Your Firebird story book layers came out truly flawless and is a beautiful representation of the childhood stories that mean so much to you. I appreciate how much life your were able to bring into your club penguin just by painting it! the shadows are especially impressive. I miss seeing some of your lantern project though, because even though it is unfinished you still put a lot of time and hard work into it and I don’t think you should ever discredit that. But I really love your Angel and definitely feel you got a beautiful figure out of wood and a laser!

Your layers project absolutely nailed the fantastical fairy tale art style and the small cuts give it a super detailed look. The penguin is awesome as well, and the paint that you added gives it even more shine.

Hi Michelle! All of your pieces turned out incredible! I really like your layers project, the way you designed it creates cool eye movement of the boy/wolf and the phoenix especially when mixed with all the colours. I also love your Club Penguin penguin with his little painted shadow!

Hi Michelle! I’m so glad to see all of your piece finished! I’m super happy to see one of the first cuts as well! I know Retina Engrave was being a pain with it.
It’s stunning to see the careful details of your layers project and it strikes me how well a forest is created with the layers!
I also love the accuracy on your penguin! I truly appreciate the fact you used black lines where there was a lot of contour in the feet alongside painting in the cartoon shadows from the game!

Great job! My favorite of your three projects is the Layers project! I love the personal story behind the piece as well as how detailed and colorful it looks! I also commend you on being determined to put together the lantern, I can only imagine how frustrating it must have been!
