Layers Project: The original concept for this piece was the center circle with the 3 raindrop beach scenes at different times of day. The concept then expanded because I didn’t like the final exterior shape of the circle around the raindrops. The concept expanded so that the circle with raindrops was actually a pearl in a clam/oyster shell that has some water levels below it. As a result the amount of layers expanded to be the several layers within the raindrops, the different layers to make up the clam/oyster shell, the water below the shell, and the various bubbles stacked up made up of cardstock or wood.
Lantern Project: The concept for the lantern was it being Mamma Mia inspired. The piece expanded to include the record platform with the cut out figures along the edges.
Altered Toy Project: The concept for this project was a to make an Easy Bake Oven difficult. The original shape of the Easy Bake Oven is kept with added locks and chains and two keypads that a code would need to be entered into to use.

Hi Emily,
I like how you painted all the water drops on your layers piece to give them more dimension. I really like how your lantern piece came together with the vinyl record base, I like how the light highlights the silhouettes on the edge of the record, it has a very theatrical vibe to it. I like how you are able to see all the individual layers in the 3D print for your altered toy project.
Hi Emily,
I really like how you used a mix of materials in your pieces. The combination of wood and paper in your layers project is very interesting. I also love how you constructed a whole scene for the lantern project. If you continue to work on it, I think it would be super cool if the record was on a bearing and could spin. I also notice all the detail you were able to get on the altered toys project.
Hi Emily! I was very impressed by the amount of detail and concept you incorporated into your lantern project. It looks amazing!
Hi Emily! I love how all of your projects have such well thought out concepts and designs. The lantern project is definitely my favorite of yours. I love that you included a base like a record, cut out character silhouettes and painted the lantern itself! I can see how much work you put into all of your pieces and think that it really shows in the final versions.
The record and figures really bring your lantern project to life. It is cool to see how you expanded the whole project and gave it a ton of character.
The additional detailing on your layers project adds a lot to the piece and I think you put exactly what you needed to make it stand out. As a fellow ABBA fan I also really like the Mamma Mia piece. The cutouts of the people dancing on the record make it more compositionally interesting and draw your attention to the detailing on the box.
Hi Emily! I love that all your pieces have incredible attention to details that one doesn’t see right away – especially with the Mamma Mia lantern, I appreciate that you took the time to make the little stands for the vinyl to sit on. All your pieces are so colourful, and the final versions all turned out amazing!
Hi Emily! I love your use of lighting for your lantern! I love how the light shines onto the cutouts creating really cool silhouettes! The incorporating of light into a landscape is amazing as well!
Your Mamma Mia piece is an entire show within itself! The lantern, record, and silhouette cutouts pull the piece together super well and it conveys the fun energy of the movie amazingly.
Incredible job on each of these pieces! My favorite would have to be the Mamma Mia lantern project! I played Sophie my senior year in my high school’s production of Mamma Mia! and it was incredible, so seeing this brought back so many fond memories! I think the paint job is my favorite part! Especially the record side and the ocean/island side!
