Altered Toy Project – Emily

I decided to go with the “Easy” Bake Oven idea for the altered toy project. I put the design I had into the printing queue just to see how some of the things looked but I will be adding some of the suggestions that were made on the design post about adding more things to make it difficult.

Some of the changes so far was adding a keypad to the top of the easy bake oven and then reshaping the chains. I added a couple more updated images that had additional locks, chains, and a second keypad that required a code. I attempted to make a lock that is like the one on lockers but I wouldn’t be able to get a lot of numbers on it and then without numbers it doesn’t look the same so I didn’t end up using it. I also was trying to think of how to put a puzzle on the box and it wasn’t really working so I think the updated images will probably be what the final product will look like. I also think I’ll only print the keys once and keep what’s made from the test print unless some break.

Update: I put through the final design to be printed and it was printed. There was some issues where it looked like the text “ENTER CODE” didn’t print correctly, the placement of some of the support trees made it hard to remove either because it’s blocked by something/will break a part of the design/too attached to the piece, and most of the numbers of the keypad printed correctly but they were very small so I’m not surprised. I think if there was more time I would alter the design and reprint it again but it seems like the wait time for items to be printed would be too long. I’m going to still try to remove some of the trees. Additionally two of the locks broke off as the tree supports were being taken off and so in some of the pictures they are placed where they were.
