Introducing: Marcella Larrabee!

Hello class! My name is Marcella Larrabee. I am a freshman chemical engineering student here at WPI. I am active in SAS, Greenhouse Club, and plan to play Club Lacrosse next spring. I come from a town called Yarmouth, On Cape Cod, MA. .

I have been creating art for as long as I can remember. It all started with finger painting and drawing people with their hands and legs coming out of their heads. No matter how many times my mother said “Marcella, we have a body that our arms and legs come out of…”, I continued to draw my gremlin people. I had Sharpie tattoos covering my arms in grade school to get me through the dragging of class, Doodles all over my math sheets, and even Ugly-Doll-like plushies I created with felt, cottons balls, and thread I had borrowed from my grandma. Art for me has always been an escape and a breather from the day to day. My creativity has run wild my entire life, making art an awesome way for me to express myself.

Nowadays, I enjoy photography and editing those photos, painting, doodling, drawing, clay art, pottery, and even makeup. I am incredibly open minded when it comes to creating art and love finding new media to incorporate into my work. I am starting to work more with digital artwork through the application Procreate, playing acoustic guitar, and learning how to embroider!

Looking forward to a fun and exciting term!

Hi Marcella, I will give you the quirky badge. I really like your octo-tongue drawing, it has a cool sci fi vibe to it.

I’ll also be giving you the quirky badge. The sketches you’ve made are very zany and fun and the candle wax skull looks like something directly out of an old cartoon.

  4. Jakob says:

Dark: I love how you are showing people in a way that is very unnatural and almost uncomfortable but in a good way.

  6. Kat says:

Hi Marcella, I really love your photography and pencil work! It feels rather familiar as the photography reminds me of a lot of the county fairs and carnivals I used to go to as a kid.

  7. Emily says:

Hi! I think the inventive badge because the reality and movement of the octo-tongue and the candle wax skull are created.

  8. Erica says:

Hi Marcella, I’d like to give you a dark badge for the surreal nature of the skull, octo-tongue, and the makeup look! I’m also giving you a familiar badge for the Travis Scott Tour – I miss going to concerts so much, it gave me some serious nostalgia 🙂

Hi! I am leaving you the dark badge for your first three black and white pieces because you got a lot of depth and dimension by just adding darkness to the paper.

  11. Lauren says:

Hi Marcella! I am giving you the striking badge. Your art is really detailed and your pictures give me a sense of your world. Thanks for sharing!

  12. Shane says:

Quirky! Those pencil drawings are really good. I can totally picture someone with those as tattoos.

Hey Marcella!! I’ll give you the colorful and dark badge. My favorite is the skull drawing!!

  14. Sydney says:

Impressive: the make up look was so cool and as a make up lover myself I could really appreciate it!

  15. Michelle says:

Hi Marcella! I don’t know if this is a badge, but this is the main word that pops into my head when I look at your drawings, so i will be awarding you the textured badge! It’s very impressive how you’re able to bring forth so many different textures and 3D surfaces through your work, despite it being done on a 2D surface!

  16. Iris says:

Hi! I want to give you quirky and colorful! I really love the details and imaginative “things” you drew, especially the octo-tongue! Also your rainbow makeup look is just so incredible! I saw it and immediately wished I could do something that sick with makeup!
