For this project I was really inspired by the more traditional lantern/ boxes we looked at and after thr organic design of my last project I wanted to do soemthing more geometric. My plan is to have the mountians wrap around the entire piece instead of each panel looking like its own design. The top part being the sun is plannned like that to have the main circle be cut out and double as the method to be able to access the inside of the box.
I am going back and forth about what kind of light source to use on the inside (and color or no color) and exactly which parts of the mountians are going to be engraved vs cut out for the light to shine through so opinions on either of those are appreciated.

Hi Grace,
I like your choice of having the mountains wrap around the whole lantern. I think it would be easiest to cut out the blue lines drawn for the mountain and maybe the purple lines for the stars could also be cut out.
Hey Grace, I appreciate your design, it feels nostalgic in a way, like a childhood nightlight. I agree with Sameer in making cuts for the elements. If you do that, you’ll have to alter you design slighting in a way that ensures the design doesn’t cut all the way through and breaks off into pieces (if that makes sense). If you end up cutting out the stars, I think it would be cool to keep the drawn look of the stars! Im excited to see what you create.
Hi! I think it would be interesting to have the lights have color because you could change the time of the day for the mountains. I also think with the mountain you could probably have a mix of engraves and cuts to avoid the problem Marcella pointed out that pieces might break off.
