Layer Project: First Cuts

on

Currently for my project I have three layers designed: one with the moon, the hill, and the people standing on the hill. I’m most likely going to add more layers to it after seeing how these three look together. I think the added layers would make the piece more interesting.

These cuts aren’t perfect because my image with the characters standing on the hill didn’t show up in retina engrave, so I had to upload it a different way and resize it myself. I resized it wrong compared to the other pieces, but I really like how it turned out so I think I’m going to make the other pieces that size. I would like to know if you guys think I should make the other pieces larger or make the one piece smaller.

After I’ve finished all my layers, I’m thinking about staining the wood to make it darker to make it look more spookier and fit in with the theme of the movie.

Hi Tia! I think your piece is really coming along! I appreciate how you made the moon its own layer to help it bring life to the piece. I think staining the wood will be a nice touch! I also feel like painting just the characters or just the moon would add a cool feeling to the finished piece.

Hey Tia! I notice the line details you added to the front most layer of the hill and how it helps bring the scene to life. I like you idea of making the new layers bigger to match the people hill layer, I think the forms of the characters come through really well at that size. Definitely dark stain the layers, especially the hills while keeping the moon finished bright so that the layers contrast each other and make the whole scene pop!

HI Tia, I noticed how you are using a low Polly design instead of smooth curves. I think that is a very cool juxtaposition with the flowy landscape. In my opinion, having the layers a different size add a very cool aspect to the piece and make it feel more three dimensional. It would be cool to see the next version play on that.
