Vector Tracing

To celebrate the recent Patriots’ AFC championship victory, I decided to perform my vector tracing on Tom Brady. This is a photo taken from the game. When choosing a photo, I felt that Brady’s real thoughts are captured in this image during the game.

This is the original image. I chose not to include some small details because when I did, the small image size created a messy look that I was not happy with.

Vector Trace Skull Rock

I decided to use a picture of skull rock, which is located by the pond in Maine my family has been going to for generations. The rock itself is part of a family tradition. The woman in the picture is my great aunt.

Vector Tracing Portrait

I decided to do my vector tracing portrait on Hugh Neutron from the show The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius. This show was one of the first I saw with 3D animation and I thought it would be fun to trace one of the funniest characters on it.

I am really close with my family and my sister so I chose an image of my sister and I on a Skype call. I am not really sure why, but it has become a tradition to make a heart with our hands before we hang up. I found it difficult to create the eyes because there wasn’t much contrast and I decided to depict the hands by creating lines instead of shadows.

I decided to do a picture of Kevin James for my vector trace. I tried to strike a middle ground between realistic colors and colors a little bit more reminiscent of the WPAP style.

I did a image tracing of my girlfriend’s portrait, I got too excited doing this and totally forgot the color limit, I showed her the final picture at least she’s happy.

My vector tracing submission will be of the character Marth from the Fire Emblem series. I haven’t actually ever played this series however I’m an enormous fan of the Super Smash Bros. franchise and have played competitively for some time now. Marth is the character I typically use and this is the character render from the newest installation of the series. I focused less on exact detail and color matching and instead focused on the overall form of the character shaping (sword, cape shadows/depth, armor). The ending amount of vector shapes in this design was in the 300s and came mostly out of the fact that the cloth needed more attention than other areas (such as the eyes/hair/background elements) to truly bring out some aspect of depth in the image.

This is my cat, Sammy. He is cute, except for the he makes me feed him at 5AM. I attempted to turn him into a vector.

Hello again,

I did my art on a mountain I saw when visiting Colorado. The piece has about 300+ shapes, and I love how the clouds came out. Below is the original image. Enjoy!
