Patterns

Synthetic Pattern:

My first pattern is a multi-layered picture of shaq banana. The cool part of this is that in the more distant layers, shaq banana becomes more of a shadow. Also, I messed with the opacity and the color randomness of the layers which makes it so that different part of layers pop out more than other parts of layers.

Vegetable Pattern:

This is a pattern of cabbage.  I first inverted the picture by having the four corners in the middle. Then I took 1-inch interval circles starting from the outside and rotated them 90 degrees clockwise until I got a 1 in diameter circle in the middle.

Subtractive: Its a witch!

For my subtractive project, I chose to alter a picture of a bicycle. My objective was to make it look like he was floating in the air like a witch. To do this, I took out the wheels on the bike. Some issues I had editing this picture was that originally, it was in color. However, I had no way of adding in the words on the banner behind the back wheel because I didn’t have any reference. To solve this, I used the red layer which got rid of the red banner and made it blend with the white text.

Intro Post

Hi, my name is Wonjae Jang. I am a freshman RBE major. I grew up in Massachusetts, not too far away from WPI. I used to be a pretty creative person when I was young. I had artwork in the Worcester Art Museum when I was in 5th grade and in the State House when in 7th grade. Then I found video games were pretty cool and it was all downhill from there.

However, in the past year, I’ve rekindled my artsy side by editing youtube videos. Also, I’ve done a lot of Solidworks in the past 3 months. Below is a boat I’ve been working on with a few other people for Sailbot, an MQP project.

The icon that I created was a sort of collage of music notes. Originally I had just had the two-quarter notes, but then I thought looked at it and it looked empty and bland, so I spiced it up by not having it centered and filling up the white spaces. My icon was music notes because I started playing violin since a very young age. I’ve always enjoyed the violin while growing up and it is something that I can always play and have a good time.
