Vector Tracing Portrait – Jordan Stahl

For this project I decided to use something I enjoy a lot. I am currently the owner of two jeep wranglers and am totally in love with them. So, naturally I decided to use one for this project. Below is my original photo which I took from the internet because I unfortunately did not have any good photos of my jeeps on my laptop. I really enjoyed this project and I thought a jeep was the perfect image to use because it is already very “blocked out”. I hope you enjoy what I did.

Additive/Subtractive post – Jordan Stahl

The original photos include front views of Mercedes Gull-wing with the doors open. I decided to show this car throughout history because it is one of my favorite cars. I have consistently enjoyed this car from 1954-2012. I decided to take the first 3 years the car was made and combine it with the most recent years. I used the approach of additive to combine all 6 photos. My focus in aligning these photos was with the prominent Mercedes logo on the front grill. I decided to focus on the logo because it is very recognizable and most people can identify the car by its logo.

Intro Post

Hi all,

My name is Jordan Stahl. I am a sophomore studying Mechanical Engineering here at WPI. I am adopted from China at the age of 2 and have been in PA my whole life. I have a summer home in Maine where I love to be outdoors. I have traveled two times in high school and both were huge eye openers for me. I love taking photos outside while hiking or exploring new places. I also enjoy taking photos of people or events I’m involved in. I am very into cars and would love to design them some day.

These are two photos of an architecture class I took at my high school. My high school had a huge stem program where I got to take many design and engineering courses. This is where I discovered my interest in design and engineering. The first photo is where I re-designed an old space and turned it into a urban space. The other photo is a garage I created for a more modern approach.

This is a photo of a Hummer I created in an engineering course at my high school. I took many engineering courses there and love cars.

I decided to do a car from the 1980’s. The De Lorean was a sports car manufactured for the united states from 1981-1983. I chose this car because I really like gull-wing doors. I like the rather modern approach to a basic thing like a door. I love looking at cars.
