Final Project!

Hello for the last time…

Here is my final project. I made a comic with a few pages. I nearly started from scratch with my Maya scene, and it seemed to fix my problem with texturing. I’m happy with how it turned out. It was nice returning to Photoshop, and as you can see I had some fun making the panels.

I included nearly every previous project in the scene in some way. Most are photographs on the walls, except the “painting” on the easel. I put my reference photo for my vector trace as the outside scenery (a little ways back from the window frame so as the camera angle moved so did the perspective), and my actual vector trace as artwork on the easel. Did you know Mickey paints? Now you do.

I also had a picture of my now corrupted Chuck E. Cheese character model from a previous post, so I included it in the comic as well.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy!

Texturing

Hello all,

I had tons of trouble with this assignment. Maya did NOT want to cooperate. As a result, I had to do a lot of Blinn, Phong, and Anisotropic. The floor was the only texture maya did not fight with me on for some strange reason.

**Also Maya decided to corrupt my Chuck E Cheese character model, so I just used Mickey Mouse instead.

Here are my shiny new footprints and reflective sign:

Here I have the full scene. The floor likes to stand out:

The gun is what came out the best with the Anisotropic material:

And here is my shiny Mickey Mouse. I chose Phong for his fur because black fur needs to show more depth:

Hope you enjoyed!

Character Part 2: Modeling

Hey howdy Hey,

Guess who just made a murderer!

I made Chuck. E. Cheese. This was extra troubling because my reference photos were not the best. But whatever I’m still proud of my murderous monstrosity.

Here is a close up of the head:

Character Part 1: Concept Art

Hello again,

Here is a basic collage I will be modeling Chuck E Cheese from. I chose the 2000s animatronic Chuck because that was the most terrifying. It shows the animatronic from different angles and different poses, and I hope to get the head really exact.

Mysterious Objects Part 2: 3D Scene Submit Assignment

Hey,

Get ready for a bunch of pictures…

First we have the complete scene based on my concept sketch:

Within the scene we have six different types of objects. Each is accompanied by a marker (which counts as one of the six objects).

First we have the “Chuck E. Cheese” coin left by the murderer as a calling card:

Next we have the murder weapon, a laser toy gun:

After that we have the corpse himself, Mickey Mouse:

(Note, he has no hands. After 8 hours of fighting with Maya I made the executive decision that Mr. Cheese cut his hands off and ran away with them).

In the room, we have an example of beautiful American craftsmanship:

Finally, we have the murderer’s carelessly left footprints:

Hope you enjoyed!

Mysterious Objects Part 1: Story & Concept Sketch

His aviators shimmered in the sunlight. He steps off his metal horse, his custom baby seal leather boots shining. The gathered crowd grows silent. Time seemed to slow. His mustache quivered, if only for a moment, and the crowd went back to a silent whisper. They knew why he was here. He knew why he was here. And the dead body knew why he was here.

Murder” he muttered, his mustache dancing on his upper lip.

The shields before his eyes fell, exposing the sunlight to the corneas beneath. Their lids tighten, and he gazes upon the scene. Something’s off.

He approaches the Castle’s facade, where an distressed Cowboy and his fellow Astronaut are hovering over the corpse. A princess looks on.

Stand back“, his deep voice bellows. They oblige.

Observation #1, he thinks, victim is humanoid but clearly not human. His ears are the size of his hands, which are nearly half the size of his enlarged head. Oddly enough, the victim’s only clothing is that of read trousers, white gloves, and  yellow shoes.

Looking up he orders the body to be removed. The blood on the ground is now fully revealed, and he can focus on the evidence at hand.

Leading from where the head lie, rodent tracks immortalized in blood are still wet. What appears to be the murder weapon rests far from the head, almost as if thrown. And something glimmering catches his eye; something of monetary value.

He picks it up, mustache trembling, as he reads the inscription carved into the coin. Chuck. E. Cheese.

Robot Primitive

Hey guys,

For my Robot Primitive in Maya I drew some lighthouse-looking thing. It reminds me of the Jimmy Neutron monsters, however I can not find a good reference picture for that so you’ll have to look it up yourself. They are basically T4 Viruses if you know what that looks like, but those aren’t quite like my lighthouse here below.

Self Portrait

Hello,

For my midterm assignment I edited a portrait of myself looking rather dapper.  It took quite a while to decide how I was going to manipulate my photo, and I finally decided on some galaxy-replacement therapy. The only part of the image that is original is my face.

Expressive Typography

Hello,

I probably had the most trouble with this assignment. Being limited to just text manipulation was not easy, and as a result for this assignment I did not feel as creative as in previous assignments. Here are my three words:

For my first ^ I did “Compression”. I liked this the best, as it used just the words and left some empty space for effect. The one thing I would have liked to do if possible was to add Mario and act like it was a “POW” block.

Next I did “inflation” ^. At first I really toyed with making the word into money or something along those lines, as the word of course does not just have one definition. I couldn’t get it to work well, so this was my backup plan. It came out well, with the “O” being a balloon, and the black background makes it seem like its floating out of the void.

My last word I did was “Obesity” ^. This one was fun as I aimed for that childish look of pizza that every kindergartener draws, but if you look closer they are all just letters spelling the word “Obesity”. The “O” is the crust, the “Y” “I” and “T” are the slices, and the “B” “E” and “S” are the toppings.

Vector Tracing

Hello again,

I did my art on a mountain I saw when visiting Colorado. The piece has about 300+ shapes, and I love how the clouds came out. Below is the original image. Enjoy!
