This is my short comic about a prison escape. I used my vector art for the picture hanging on the wall and credit to Ryan Cirella for the second person in the story.

Here are a couple of renders for my scene with textures. I still have no clue how lighting works in Maya, so it’s a little difficult to see the reflective properties because the renders are so dark. Hoping I can fix this soon!

This is one of the prisoners from my story. The hardest part was actually the hands, which ended up coming out pretty good, so I’m happy with it!

I decided to model one of the prisoners from my story. I am awful at drawing, but this gives you a pretty good idea of what I would like him to look like. Sorry for the horrific side view, which will have much more detailed hands when I model him.

 

 

The prison guards were astonished when they approached an empty prison cell during lockdown. Buster and Monte, the two most rebellious inmates, had been seen two hours ago at dinner, but were now nowhere to be seen. The cell was locked and the prison was shutdown, so they couldn’t have possibly exited through the cell gate. So, Detective Jerry, the best in town, was called to investigate the cell. Upon arrival, he immediately noticed a puddle around the toilet. Investigating further, Jerry found a hammer clogging the drain in the toilet. He carefully removed it and placed it on the floor and continued looking around the cell. He walked over to the window, the only other obvious way out of the cell besides the door, but found nothing wrong. Jerry was puzzled, so he took a step back, when he noticed a crooked painting hanging on the wall. He got closer to the painting and took it down to reveal a giant hole. Jerry was certain that this is how the prisoners escaped. Piecing together all of the clues, he deduced that the inmates had hammered through the wall with the hammer he found. But it would be impossible to get through the wall with just a hammer. Looking around a bit more, he finally found a chisel under the bed. “That’s exactly how they did it. They must have been planning this for quite some time and hiding their progress with the hanging picture,” explained Detective Jerry. He assumed that when the time came, they threw the hammer in the toilet and tried to flush it Then they tossed the chisel under the bed and quickly removed the picture and climbed through the hole, putting the picture back behind them. Now the only thing left to do is find the prisoners at large…

 

I thought it would be cool to use a lot of the helix tool to create a tube-like material for the limbs and neck of my robot. I also fooled around with the body and changed the positions of single faces on the box to give it more depth and make it more interesting. I don’t know anything about Maya but I learned a lot with this simple project and I consider it a good start.

My self portrait collage is mainly based off of one of my senior pictures. In the background of my body there are 4 main photos, 3 of which are photos that I had taken on my phone. These four places represent some of my most memorable and/or aspired places in the universe. I love camping, I love the beach, Niagara Falls is one of my favorite tourist sites, and as anyone would, I would like to one day visit Mars. The rest of the small images in my body are logos that best describe my interests and what makes me who I am. I purposely kept my body faintly in the background and the right side of my face uncovered to get the feeling of myself emerging from all of these things. My favorite part is that the longer you look at it, the more there is to see and it serves as a great representation of who I am and where I come from.

 

The only source I felt was necessary was for the picture of Mars. All of the others are either taken by me or are logos that can be found anywhere on the internet.

To celebrate the recent Patriots’ AFC championship victory, I decided to perform my vector tracing on Tom Brady. This is a photo taken from the game. When choosing a photo, I felt that Brady’s real thoughts are captured in this image during the game.

This is the original image. I chose not to include some small details because when I did, the small image size created a messy look that I was not happy with.
