Self Portrait Collage

My self portrait is centered around the fundamental things that I am composed of. Most of the composition is shaped around a photo of me in my goalie equipment, which is where I feel I’m at home the most and best describes me. The background is a nice mountain/ice lake setting, an integral part of how I grew up either on the ice or exploring cold, remote areas of New England. I decided to have the mountain top in the ‘brain’ part of the image as I’m always thinking of where to explore next, while the hockey net is in the heart area as it’s what I love to do. I placed the title of my fraternity in my mouth as you can usually find me talking about it or to my brothers. I think that’s a pretty good explanation? Oh, and the wing was added because when I’m in my elements that are shown here, I feel as if I’m flying.

  1. This is just freaking amazing. You have so many different elements yet they blend so well together. Also, your transition between the mountain and your head is very fluid. Finally, I really like the empty space you put in the middle/left of your portrait. It really separates the two landscapes and makes it really interesting to look at.

  2. I think this might be my favorite self portrait piece out of them all. It is not only extremely clean but it also captures a lot of who you are and what you are interested in. My only comment is in the top left corner, I can see a net like pattern in the mountain but can not really make out what it is. Maybe, if there even is something there, remove it all together and just let the mountain be a mountain… I guess? Other than that Fantastic!

  3. I think this piece is great. You’ve captured who you are and what you like very well while also making it look cool. I especially like how your head continues on into the mountain that kinda trails off.

  4. This piece is really well done. Everything blends together perfectly and flows nicely. You found a nice balance between the details of your uniform and the details of the overlayed images

  5. Awesome piece! The choice of mainly purple and white really give the image a bold and passive feel at the same time. The more I look, the more pictures I see. Nice job blending all of the images.
