Subtractive: Its a witch!

For my subtractive project, I chose to alter a picture of a bicycle. My objective was to make it look like he was floating in the air like a witch. To do this, I took out the wheels on the bike. Some issues I had editing this picture was that originally, it was in color. However, I had no way of adding in the words on the banner behind the back wheel because I didn’t have any reference. To solve this, I used the red layer which got rid of the red banner and made it blend with the white text.

  1. I thought i was a really smart using RGB color filters to produce better subtractive image. However, based on your ‘floating in the air’ idea, wouldn’t it be more witch-like if you remove the body of the bike as well? So the guy would be riding some sort of invisible broom.

  2. I really enjoyed this, and it provided such a stark contrast to reality when it comes to simple concepts like gravity. Through motion, it tricks my mind into believing this is possible, however its a still image that couldn’t possibly be real. Nice job

  3. Considering the left side of the cycle witch’s leg, there seems to be a noticeable gap where the front wheel was. When cloning over that section, I would suggest using a smaller brush to catch the parts of the flag within the wheel, then brushing outwards. Below the flag, however, the wheels do not look like they were there before at all. I think this keeps the illusion better.
