You did a very good job on this photo. I like your attention to every little details and I think every decision you made works well with making this photo flow as a whole. I really like your background choice and I think if you went with anything in the real background it could of been very distracting so great job toning it down. I really enjoy looking at this photo and personally would not change a thing.
The choice of using a gradient in the background was very smart because the neutral green at the top creates great contrast with the highlights of the hat and the light green at the bottom creates contrast with the dark sheatshirt. The texture in the hat that you have created also really works here because it is unlike the flat shapes of typical vector art!
I like this image on the whole, but I’m very impressed with your treatment of the hat here! I think you did an excellent job vectoring it and still keeping the texture of the hat obvious. Really awesome!
This is a really well done piece of art. The shadows created from the facial hair and the hair on the forehead is extremely realistic. I think that the hat’s detail of the weaving was represented very well. I support the choice to not use the shapes of the background and just leave the person as the focal point.
The texturing on the hat and hair is well done, even with a very simple palette. Compositionally, one suggestion I might make would be to add a bit of a shadow on the neck area to match with the shading scheme of the piece (eg the ears or hairline). Great work!
