Vector

I chose to use an image of my favorite basketball player, Michael Jordan, dunking a basketball at a park in Chicago. I thought that creating a vector image of this photograph would be interesting because a silhouette of him from this image eventually became the Jordan brand logo for his company.

  1. Your vector image is a good middle ground between the real photo and the logo, especially since the matte colors are represented in both. You also did a great job giving his head more than one color, defining it a little more. I would have like to see that done on his right hand (left side of the screen) too, since it appears like it’s one swollen mass.

  2. I love the background in this. It really does an excellent job of accentuating the main focus of Jordan and stands really well on it’s own. I also appreciate the great amount of detail in the shows, but wish you maybe extend a little detail into the clothes and arms. However, on that note I also really like the more minimalist style.

  3. The most striking thing about this piece for me is the dynamic pose, which you have captured well. Without the benefit of motion blur, even the details such as the trailing laces on the left keep the central motif of motion while the image is simplified into vectors.

  4. You did a really good job with the shoes and skyline in the tracing. Whether intended or not, I think the detail you put into the shoes draws a connection to how this photo (mainly, the silhouette version) is used in real life, to sell shoes
