I decided to use a picture of skull rock, which is located by the pond in Maine my family has been going to for generations. The rock itself is part of a family tradition. The woman in the picture is my great aunt.

I really like this post and the attention you had to all the details. I think you did a great job incorporating the background but not making it overpowering. I really like the shading on the rock that really draws the viewer’s eye towards the skull. Well done.
I think there is skill in the selection of the shapes here. This piece has a lot of fine details to it, and you chose to use larger shapes mainly, but still managed to keep the detail and depth of the photo.
