This is my cat, Sammy. He is cute, except for the he makes me feed him at 5AM. I attempted to turn him into a vector.

The background gradient and railing is well done in this rendering. I find that to be where my eye looks first. Given that I assume you want the cat to be the main focus of the photo, I would of done it differently. If I was going to block it out like you did, I would of done a completely different color scheme for the cat. I think seeing the black cat first in the original photo makes me assume it will be an all black cat in the rendering. While I appreciate the work you put into the cat, I find it almost distracting all the shades you tried to incorporate. The eyes do pop in both photos which I like. I would of also put some details into the leaves in the background.
