Patterns

Above is a 12in x 12in square containing 9 4in x4in patterns. Together, they make a 9×9 puzzle with only 1 correct solutions and hundreds of close but not perfect layouts. I took these photos at each of the car companies museums in Italy. They are some of the rarest cars ever made with price tags almost too high to fathom, which make them especially memorable for me.

  1. Given that you took these pictures at a car show, I sort of got a “showroom floor” vibe from the 3×3 tiles in the back. I think the contrast of the cars and the back tiles makes for an engaging piece, and I like how you don’t quite know where the repeating pattern for the cars is. There seems to be a constant color scheme of black, yellow, blue-silver, and silver in the cars. I believe this compliments the tiling, as well.
