I decided to remove the chess pieces from a tense looking chess match for my subtractive piece. I like it because when you take away the game, both of the players look a bit ridiculous. My favorite part is the player on the left staring intently at the potential next move of his opponent ready to write it down.

i really like the idea of two players play mind chess, and you did a really good job restoring the chessboard, especially the part right above the hand on the left. And the photo was quite funny
I think this is such an impressive concept. Many people don’t realize that chess is indeed a real, legitimate sport, and by showing the competitors playing “imaginary chess” it reflects greatly on society. Nice job replacing the tiles on the board!
The concept behind this is awesome. While Chess is a very open game with many different alleyways to it, this piece shows how some aspects of chess (openings/endgame) are almost a rehearsed performance. Some options are inherently better than other options and the players need to ‘imagine’ the correct lines!
Firstly: Invisible chess is an interesting concept to choose. It’s also pretty darn intriguing. Secondly, the subtraction of the relevant chess pieces looks somewhat seamless, though what I’m assuming to be the clock timer behind them looks conspicuously empty.
I would agree, the players do look awfully serious considering the sudden lack of pieces to move. The fact that such a small change makes a large difference reflects on the focus of the original image, which can now be expanded to the rest of the frame. I find myself wanted to see what else he could be made to reach for. Chips and dip, anyone?
