Subtractive – Earth

I believe that the ice caps melting – or global warming – has the potential to be catastrophic for a lot of people. I took this picture of the Earth that I found online and erased Antarctica, and some land that I believe will be submerged under the new water from the (now melted) ice-caps.

  1. This is a powerful concept for an additive/subtractive artwork. I admire how you went to the effort of removing the edges of the major continents to show how the water rose.

  2. That’s a pretty interesting take on the subject. By subtracting the areas that would have been submerged with the loss of ice caps, you ended up adding a lot of water in its place. There seems to be pieces of the latitude and longitude grid missing from the piece in erasing away the Earth portions, though. I would suggest clone stamping from a similarly placed grid line near the erased area.
