For this project I took a picture of myself and decided to overlay it with some stars and a galaxy background. I felt that this represented my love for space and I thought it’d be a cool concept to make myself look like the galaxy since we are technically all made of star stuff. I added the sun to the picture to create a contrast between the dark colors of the background.

Everything about this piece fits together perfectly. There is a nice subtle color scheme going on, almost but not quite a grayscale. And the addition of the bright, contrasting sun in your hand draws in the viewer’s focus but doesn’t take all of the attention away from the rest of the picture.
The gradient in the background compliments the subject very well. The stripes help increment the progression from the dark corner to a lighter middle section. This reminds me of a sunrise. The bright sun is a great center piece for the picture but I think it would have looked even color if your hand wasn’t so bright.
The portrait on the whole is very nice and well composed. I really like how the sun adds a splash of color to the piece but doesn’t fully pull attention away from you. Great job!
