Collage Self Portrait

Collage Self Portrait:

I made my portrait black and white because it felt more bold, and appropriate to my personality. The piano pieces on my hand and on my shirt have been important and loved by me as a child, and I can even play them now! I originally had the background just as a wooden wall, but since I wanted to make it look more “creative,” I added a paisley pattern overlayed on it. The bubbles at the top left near my head represent my love for learning. The peace sign is representative of my ‘peace-keeper’ tendencies.

  1. I agree that the black and white look fits this image really well. Nice job with the music notes on your hand. It looks like it is drawn on your hand.

  2. This is one of my favorite self portraits because the level of detail isn’t necessarily extreme but there are enough different aspects of your personality to speak volumes about who you are. The combination of hard and soft edges add up well to complete the piece.

  3. The simplicity and unbalanced nature of your piece works very well. I like how you put your interests in you head and notes on what you use to play the piano, your fingers. I think you could have feathered your head a little to make the transition to the background more realistic.
