Vector Tracing Portrait – The Moment Before Death

I chose to vector trace this bear, because it’s a cool bear and it’s very angry

Fur is probably more problematic than skin, but I had more fun tracing this amazing beast.

  1. This photo was well thought out. My only critique would be on the beige around the nose. I would of played with the gradience tool to see if that would make it not stand out as much as it does. Other than that, I really like what you did with the photo.

  2. The simplified shapes of this piece seem to fit together very well. The original image is complex with all the different colors of the fur but you were still able to transfer that into vector art and have it unmistakably resemble a bear.

  3. The color choice for the varying shades of brown and grey was well chosen. I think it is effective for this piece and properly conveys the varied fur color but also dimesion of the bears head. I also like the inclusion of glare in the bears eye, as it gives some life to him, however I would maybe suggest making it a little more subtle (off white or grey) like it is in the original image.

  4. Interesting shapes you managed to find on the bear’s fur. Rather than a straight adaptation, you chose the closest colors each fur section had and turned them into its own little pool on the bear. I’m noticing a splotchy sort of design the way you broke up the fur, which gives it a bit of extra texture.
