My patterns didn’t fit well into a 4×4, so I created them as I envisioned and then trimmed to the final 8×8. The first is a HotWheels BMW M4, the second is a skin pocketed aluminum tube section. Both originate from old photographs.

Your mineral pattern reminds me of something I might see looking under a microscope, which is a really neat effect.
In the second design, I really like the shine of the triangles, it really makes them ‘pop’ from the rest of the design, giving it a beveled appearance. The slight difference of color along the horizontal lines give an interest to the design as well.
In really like the effect that the second pattern creates. The difference in shading on the triangles makes it so that your eyes can switch at which color they are focused on. The amount of detail put into it also makes it an interesting piece to look at.
