steps for using video software:
(I'm writing this without the software in front of me, so some commands may
be worded slightly differently - you should be able to figure it out though!)
Xmpeg:
- Start the program. The wizard will come up - you can cancel out of it for
now.
- Right-click in the main window to pop up the menu - choose OPTIONS
- Go to the FILES section, and set an output location (browse to your folder).
Do SAVE, then OK to exit the options.
- Right click to bring up the menu again, and do OPEN DVD-ROOT
- Using the "carrots" ^ ^ at either end of the timeline, select the in and
out points of your video exerpt.
- Now, go to the menu and run the Wizard. You can just step through each
of the screens it offers you, except for:
- On the sound screen, select the 2-Ch English track, if possible. If you
don't have that track, just go with the default.
- On the Cropping screen, if your DVD has black horizontal bands (letterbox)
on the top and bottom, uncheck "Crop."
- Do Finish, and it should start the encoding process.
- If you want to rip another clip, go to your folder and rename the first
clip - each subsequent one will be named the same thing, so you need to rename
them so they're not overwritten!
VideoCleaner:
- Do Add, and select the Output file you made in Xmpeg
- Go to Output Format, on the bottom of the window, and set it to DV NTSC.
- Set the Output Location - point it at your folder.
- Press Convert and it should start the conversion process!
